As I write, our aviation adventurers, Andy and Sam, are flying their little 1966 Piper Cherokee over Saudi Arabia, heading for the capital Riyadh. Track their progress live here. If you have not been following, the pair are aiming to fly their aircraft over 10,500 nautical miles from the UK to Australia in aid of Oxfam, and despite some inevitable hiccups, they’re doing pretty well so far. Here are some photos from the most recent stages of their journey:

Cairo control forced the duo to take a huge detour of 250 nautical miles due to Military activities along their planned route – a gruelling seven hour and 40 minute flight.

On the plus side, the views were amazing: “It was like flying over Mars in places,” say the pair. “We got to see the Suez Canal entrance from the Red Sea, and also to see both Eilat and Aquabar snuggled next to each other.”
