This week, thousands gather in the ancient Turkish city of Konya to watch the annual Whirling Dervish Festival. Whirling Dervishes are ascetic Muslims of a Sufi order who perform a symbolic dance in which they spin, wearing long robes and a conical hat, to attain harmony with the universe.
