Every 9th of January a life-sized sculpture of Jesus called the ‘Black Nazarene’ is taken through the streets of Manila, the Philippines,  in a procession. Several million devotees attend the event and many onlookers attempt to wipe the statue with pieces of cloth, believing its miraculous properties will rub off on them.
