Today is Sami National Day, a day of celebration and recognition of the Sami people, an indigenous community who live across northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula in Russia. They are protected by international conventions of indigenous peoples, and their main sources of livelihood include herding reindeer and fishing.
