Robert HardingBefore bungee jumping there was land diving, invented on the Pacific island of Vanuatu as a ritual in which men jump off 30 metre towers made of sticks. The activity, in which there is no safety equipment other than tree vines tied to the men’s legs, has now become a tourist attraction.
