Our award winning cameraman, Doug Allan, will be speaking at the Royal Geographical Society this Friday as part of their Shackleton centenary commemorations.
 
The evening will start with a screening of the British Film Institute’s restored version of South, Frank Hurley’s film record of the Endurance expedition, accompanied by live music. After an interval, award-winning wildlife and expedition cameraman Doug Allan will reflect on Hurley’s achievements whilst providing a contemporary perspective on Antarctic photography.
 
Doug Allan specialises in cold, high and remote places. During a 35 year career, he has worked in some of the least hospitable and most remote places on earth, capturing extraordinary footage both on the ice and below it. He has worked on many television series including The Blue PlanetPlanet EarthLifeHuman Planet and Frozen Planet.
