Vietnamese New Year, known as Tết – usually celebrated at the same time as Chinese New Year (8th of February in 2016) – is the most important celebration in the Vietnamese cultural calendar. It marks the arrival of spring and many Vietnamese clean the house, cook special foods, visit temples and give money to children.
