The spectacular Whirling Dervishes festival

This week, thousands gather in the ancient Turkish city of Konya to watch the spectacular annual Whirling Dervishes festival. Whirling dervishes are ascetic Muslims of a Sufi order who perform a symbolic dance in which they spin, wearing long robes and a conical hat, to attain harmony with the universe.
