September marks Meskel, an important holy celebration in the Orthodox Ethiopian and Eritrean calendars, in which pilgrims and priests celebrate the discovery of the true cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified, said to have been discovered by Saint Helena, who received help on her search through a dream.
