These dramatic images of ospreys fishing in Finland and Scotland were taken by expert travel and nature photographer Garry Ridsdale, who waited patiently for the birds to dive down into the water and take their prey. Fish form about 99 percent of these expert hunters’ diet and therefore they are most likely to be found near lakes, rivers and other waterways.

Garry Ridsdale has been photographing for 35 years, cutting his teeth on 35mm film before moving to medium format with his V series Hasselblad. He is an Adobe Certified Expert and holds the Associateship distinction from the Royal Photographic Society.
