Brits are now enjoying more city breaks, according to the Association of British Travel Agents&#8217; report from October 2016. This is thought to be partially\u00a0due to the EU\u2019s Europe-wide &#8216;open skies&#8217; regulation.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/preview\/1264-16\/sunset-santa-maria-del-fiore-cathedral-duomo-unesco\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.robertharding.com\/preview\/RF\/RH_RF\/HORIZONTAL\/1264-16.jpg\" alt=\"Stock photo of Sunset on Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral\" width=\"1000\" height=\"668\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunset on Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral (Duomo), UNESCO World Heritage Site, Florence, Tuscany, Italy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Their research shows that city breaks are in fact the UK&#8217;s favourite holiday type, with over half the population having taken one in the year prior to the ABTA study, and almost as many planning to take one in the 12 months following.
