We talk to him about his obsession with the British countryside and how he gets such stunning photos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/results.php?Search=799-628\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-89\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" title=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/799-6281.jpg?w=470\" alt=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" \/><!--more--><\/a><br \/>\n\u00a9\u00a0Adam Burton<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not so much passionate about photography as about the outdoors,\u201d says the family man, from his house in the small village of Morchard Bishop in Devon. \u201cI enjoy what I see, not shutter speeds and apertures. What I\u2019m trying to say is, I\u2019m not a nerd!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adam\u2019s passion for shooting landscapes was ignited when he went backpacking to Australia, New Zealand and the US in 1996 and wanted to show people back home the spectacular sights he encountered. But it was in England where his photography truly blossomed. \u201cI really learnt on my home patch \u2013 the New Forest and Dorset,\u201d he recalls. \u201cI taught myself, mainly by reading photography magazines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/results.php?Search=799-104\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-87\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" title=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/799-1041.jpg?w=470\" alt=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\u00a9\u00a0Adam Burton<\/p>\n<p>Since settling in Devon he has focussed on Exmoor, Dartmoor and the South West coastline. \u201cI love shooting the coast,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s so rugged \u2013 I like the fact it\u2019s looked that way for the past thousands of years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adam\u2019s favourite times to shoot are dawn and dusk. \u201cIt\u2019s magical,\u201d he says. \u201cYou get frosts and mist and that makes it very special, not to mention the early light.\u201d On summer days, chasing the best light for Adam often means starting out at 2am in the morning and not returning home until 11.30pm. \u201cThat\u2019s challenging,\u201d says Adam, \u201c..but the rewards are there when you see an amazing sunrise or sunset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/results.php?Search=799-317\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-88\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" title=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/799-3171.jpg?w=470\" alt=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\u00a9\u00a0Adam Burton<\/p>\n<p>What are Adam\u2019s tips for taking a great photo? \u201cPatience and planning,\u201d he says. \u201cYou need to understand the weather and know the area, or you\u2019re going to run around like crazy when the light comes. But you also need to be flexible. I plan, but if it doesn\u2019t work out I can adapt quite quickly \u2013 that\u2019s my biggest skill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/results.php?Search=799-29\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-86\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" title=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/799-291.jpg?w=470\" alt=\"This image is copyright protected - to use this image purchase a license at robertharding.com\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\u00a9\u00a0Adam Burton<\/p>\n<p>He also recommends using a graduated neutral density filter \u2013 a filter that darkens the top of the image \u2013 to gain more detail in bright skies when photographing a landscape. However, he insists that this will not change a landscape, just picture it \u2018the way we see it with our eyes\u2019.
