I now live in Surrey, a leafy suburb of London.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long have you been a professional photographer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For five years now. This was before digital photography became widespread so I had to learn using film and developing in a dark room.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where are you now and what are you shooting?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m currently in London working on a project for robertharding.com\u00a0on photographing \u2013 in my opinion &#8211; the best city in the world, London. After this, I\u2019m planning a trip to somewhere in South America. I haven\u2019t decided between Venezuela or Colombia.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/preview\/1207-37\/caddo-lake-texas-united-states-america-north-america\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.robertharding.com\/preview\/RM\/RH\/PANORAMIC\/1207-37.jpg\" alt=\"Stock Travel Photo: Caddo Lake, Texas, United States of America\" width=\"600\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caddo Lake, Texas, United States of America<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>What are your favourite destinations and subjects to photograph?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not my favourite country to photograph is the USA. I have travelled around the US extensively and around ten\u00a0years ago spent three\u00a0months on a road trip across America. I fell in love with it and I think at last count I had visited 37 states. This will be the first year in a while that I haven\u2019t been there.<\/p>\n<p>I love photos that tell a story. Whether that is a lone hiker in the wild or a local market vendor making a sale, I love capturing those moments that a photograph &#8216;is worth a thousand words&#8217;.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/preview\/1207-46\/east-beach-galveston-texas-united-states-america-north\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.robertharding.com\/preview\/RM\/RH\/HORIZONTAL\/1207-46.jpg\" alt=\"Stock travel Photo: East Beach, Galveston, Texas, United States of America\" width=\"480\" height=\"321\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">East Beach, Galveston, Texas, United States of America<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>How would you describe your style?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I think my style is derived from my background in art direction and design and so tends to be very carefully constructed compositions with lots of colour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you recall a favourite experience on your travels?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s difficult to name just one, but I was recently in Big Bend National Park in Texas, photographing by the Rio Grande river which is the natural border between the USA and Mexico. I had been waiting at the spot for around an hour for the light to change when a local Mexican man who had just walked across the river from Mexico came and sat next to me to keep me company. I offered him a can of Coca Cola and we began talking and he told me all about his life and family in Mexico. It just highlighted to me how lucky us travel photographers are to have these sort of experiences.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/preview\/1207-16\/godrevy-lighthouse-cornwall-england-united-kingdom-europe\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/images.robertharding.com\/preview\/RM\/RH\/HORIZONTAL\/1207-16.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"321\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Godrevy Lighthouse, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/?lang=en&amp;page=search&amp;s=cornwall&amp;smode=0&amp;license=2&amp;orientation%5B%5D=1&amp;sortby=1&amp;bgcolour=white&amp;display=5\">Cornwall<\/a>, England<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Can you recall a particularly challenging experience while taking photos\/travelling?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A couple of years ago I was photographing in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/?lang=en&amp;page=search&amp;s=orkney+islands&amp;smode=0&amp;license=2&amp;orientation%5B%5D=1&amp;sortby=1&amp;bgcolour=white&amp;display=5\">Orkney Islands<\/a> and ventured out to a lookout point on the coast based on the advice of a local who told me it was a 15 minute walk. Having got there after an hour and a half I had a small window to take photos before heading back along a cliff path in near pitch black as I hadn\u2019t come prepared with a torch. Using the lit up display of an old phone and walking incredibly slowly I made sure I stayed on the path.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What cameras and equipment do you use? Do you have a favourite piece of equipment? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I use Canon cameras and lenses. My favourite equipment is probably my tripod as not only has it helped me capture great photos but it has helped me numerous times from falling over on slippery rocks.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertharding.com\/preview\/1207-80\/cowboy-hats-fredericksburg-texas-united-states-america-north\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/images.robertharding.com\/preview\/RF\/RH_RF\/HORIZONTAL\/1207-80.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"321\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cowboy hats, Fredericksburg, Texas, United States of America<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>What are your tips for taking a good photo?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My biggest advice is to be patient and really spend time looking and thinking before clicking away.
