The Amazon rainforest is believed to be over 55 million years old and borders eight countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Guyana and Suriname. There are nearly three million indigenous people living in the rainforest, from over 300 different indigenous groups. This remarkable part of the world remains under threat from many resource hungry industries and an area the size of three football pitches is destroyed every minute.
