1350-91 - A telescopic closeup of Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) on January 19, 2015. I shot this from near Silver City, New Mexico, using a TMB 92mm apo refractor at f/4.4 and using a Canon 6D at ISO 1600 for a stack of 4 x 5 minute exposures. The ion tail is primarily from a single exposure to minimize blurring from the comet's motion relative to the stars. The rest of the image is from the stacked combination to minimize noise.

1350-99 - The Northern Lights on Feb 16, 2015, as seen from the Churchill Northern Studies Centre, in Churchill, Manitoba at 58° latitude, and under the auroral oval. The aurora appeared as skies cleared somewhat during a blizzard with high winds and blowing snow conditions. I shot these from the second floor deck of the Centre, out of the wind and off the ground. Jupiter is at right, the Big Dipper at left.
1350-88 - An aurora display on the night of June 7/8, 2015 from southern Alberta, with an old rustic farm truck as the foreground. This is a frame from a 450-frame time-lapse with the Nikon D750 at ISO 1600 and the Sigma 24mm lens at f/2.8, for 8 seconds each. The foreground is from a stack of 8 images adjacent in time to the sky image stacked in Mean mode for smoothing of noise.

857-95728 - On Saturday 5th December 2015, Storm desmond crashed into the UK, producing the UK''s highest ever 24 hour rainfall total at 341.4mm. It flooded many towns including Keswick. This shots shows one of two railway bridges on the old Keswick railway line that were completely destroyed by the floods. It also shows a tree, now sat in the middle of the river, that used to be growing on the river bank. The force of water was such that it has scoured out huge areas of banking and realigned the river in places.'

It flooded the Lyth Valley, drowning many farms and houses. Several periods of subsequent heavy rain have kept the Lyth Valley inundated, with no sign of respite. The road was breached in several places by landslides and walls of flood debris twenty feet high. the road will probably be closed for months. Taken on Sunday 6th December 2015.
