Award-winning travel photographer Matt Parry took a three week road trip around South Africa to capture the incredible landscapes and fauna of the Eastern and Western Cape. “It is an amazing country which I loved,” says Matt. “It offers so much for photographers, from diverse landscapes – mountains, beaches, farmland – to astro, wildlife, underwater and more.”
“I don’t normally shoot wildlife,” he continues, “..as I don’t own a lens longer than a rarely used 70-200mm. However, I borrowed my Dad’s Canon 70-300 f/4L for the trip and the extra reach really helped.” Matt used this lens for the safari shots including this wonderful shot of rhinos on Amakhala Game Reserve.
“Aside from the Eastern Cape safari, which was incredible, I loved Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula,” Matt says. “There were so many photographic opportunities all over the cape, from Table Mountain, beaches, penguins, amazing landscapes to coastal drives.”
