She lives with her 52-year-old sister Ventorina Ayo who is her primary care giver, and with her husband Michael. Michael and Ventorina are very loving and slo look after Alice's two children, Geoffrey and Enice, both of whom are epileptic. The tubers can be stored up to six months without refrigeration, which makes them a valuable resource for the yearly period of food scarcity at the beginning of the wet season.
